Ah the Mediterranean… With its turquoise waters, quaint coastal towns, salty air and sunny seaside atmosphere, the Med is the perfect pick for a spectacular summer holiday. Here are five Mediterranean destinations at the top of my list:
Alexandria, Egypt
Once the ancient capital of Egypt, Alexandria is the largest city in the Mediterranean and is just as great today as Alexander intended it to be. The city combines cosmopolitan buzz and historic charm. Today, Alexandria is an intellectual and cultural hub and there is so much to explore in the city. Mediterranean destinations
Visit the famous Bibliotheca Alexandria, a modern reimagining of Alexandria’s ancient Great Library. Marvel at the host of museums, galleries, and beautifully curated exhibition spaces. There is even a Science Museum and Planetarium perfect for when visiting with kids. Mediterranean destinations

Alexandria is great!
Shop your way through the Souq District or browse antiques at Attareen Antique Market.
There are ancient ruins at every turn in Alexandria, and visitors can even dive deep into ancient underwater ruins in the Eastern Harbour Area, where one of the most popular dive sites is aptly named Cleopatra’s Palace.

When exploring leaves you hungry, order some fabulously fresh seafood off the ice at Kadoura or enjoy exquisite Egyptian cuisine at Abou El Sid.
Head out after hours for a night of belly dancing at The Neo Lounge, or experience vintage décor and cool vibes at Cap D’or. For something more relaxed, sip tea and shisha on the water at Selsela Café.
Stay at the Steigenberger Cecil Hotel for elegant rooms and splendid seafront views.
Antalya, Turkey
There is something for everyone in Antalya. Aside from its fabulous beaches, terrific Turkish culture, and surrounding natural beauty, it is also the fastest-growing city in Turkey. Antalya is a place full of adventure, perfect for a family trip, but also teeming with striking sights and hidden gems for a romantic escape.
History buffs can head out to explore the Roman ruins of Aspendos or scramble around the ruins of Termessos. If you’re staying in the city, visit the Antalya Archeology Museum.
Walk through the dramatic entrance of Hadrian’s Gate into Antalya’s Old Town, and wander through pretty cobbled streets, lined with red-roofed Ottoman mansions. Here contemporary and traditional Turkish culture come to life.

I’m telling-ya, go to Antalya!
Visit the majestic Kursunlu Waterfalls or Duden Waterfalls outside the city, or head to Antalya Aquarium to discover an array of sea life in one of the largest aquarium complexes in the world. Mediterranean destinations
Feast on fantastic Turkish cuisine in the heart of the old town at Patio Bistro & Restaurant or taste Turkey’s finest seafood at Club Arma.
After dinner, take your evening to the next level with a party on a mountain top at Tunek Tepe or party with the locals at Cello Café Bar.
Book your stay at Akra Hotel where fabulous amenities and beautiful contemporary rooms are complemented by brilliant Mediterranean views.
Positano, Italy Mediterranean destinations
Positano is a hot topic this summer, with celebrities, influencers, and A-listers on the guest list. Positano’s picturesque aesthetics make it one of the Med’s most Instagrammable locations, offering beautiful architecture, fabulous shopping, incredible restaurants, and stunning seaside views.
Positano is a Mediterranean heaven, and what better way to enjoy it than with a walk along the ancient Path of the Gods and enjoy the incredible landscape from Bomerano to Nocelle.
Positano is picturesque!
Don’t forget to shop Positano’s famous local handcrafted sandals at Nana Positano.
Head out on the water with a boat trip to Fiordo di Furore and La Fontelina Beach Club to make the most of those turquoise waters and beautiful bays. As an alternative, take a boat ride around the Isle of Capri. It’s close to Positano and perfect for a dip in the sea right off the island.
Let your love for lemons be satiated along the lemon-tree lined Amalfi coast or take a tour to taste Positano’s iconic limoncello.
A trip to Italy wouldn’t be complete without indulging in Italian cuisine. La Tagliata offers breath-taking views from their terrace, alongside an excellent menu. For pretty décor and perfect pizza, head to Saraceno d’Oro.
Dance the night away at the iconic Music on the Rocks, the club carved into a cave on Positano’s beachfront. For something more laidback, yet luxurious, sip a tipple at Il Tridente Cocktail Bar.
Stay at the Hotel Marincanto and enjoy pastel hues, beautiful relaxation spaces and sea-view rooms.

Santorini sunsets are iconic, but this volcanic Greek Island has so much more to offer than its white stone buildings and vibrant vistas.
Hike down 300 steps from Oia to Amoudi Bay Fishing Village and explore this beautiful bay lined with tasty seafood eateries.
Explore Santorini’s history in the ruin archaeological sites of Thera and Thirassa.
Film buffs can’t miss out on a screening at Santorini’s Kamari Open Air Cinema, uniquely located in the middle of the forest.

Sunsets in Santorini!
Discover the black sand beaches of Perissa, Perivolos and Agios Georgios or simply sunbathe on Vlihada or Monilithos beach. No trip to Santorini would be complete without a swim in the volcano!
Indulge in champagned cocktails and Med-Asian seafood at Seaside, the bustling restaurant and beach bar on Perivolos Beach. For a more casual affair, enjoy a meal at Rymidi Restaurant, serving a fantastic menu of traditional Greek cuisine. Look out for traditional Assyrtiko wines which are sensationally crisp and dryer than air.
Enjoy sunset cocktails in Oia at Catch Bar Restaurant or PK Cocktail Bar in Fira. Hassapiko is a hot spot for a boogie, with DJs playing into the small hours.
Book a room at the Andronis Boutique Hotel in Oia. This beautiful bolthole is carved into the caves and features a fantastic onsite restaurant.
Split, Croatia Mediterranean destinations
Make a split for Split and you won’t be disappointed. Whilst Croatia is full of fabulous towns, Split offers visitors a cracking vacation, that won’t leave your travel buddies divided.
Split is a city frozen in time, with striking historic buildings, monuments and squares that have been beautifully preserved, whilst newer architecture is seamlessly incorporated.
Stroll through Split’s Old Town and visit the incredibly beautiful Diocletian Palace. The citadel’s architecture is striking, and it was even used as the set of some scenes in Game of Thrones. Marvel at the marble tiles at Pjaca Square or browse your way through the traditional markets in Fruit Square.
Make a split for Split!
For more vistas, head up Marjan Hill to visit the Jewish Cemetery and look out over Split’s luscious landscape, and the sparkling sea.

Each Mediterranean destination will leave you feeling sun-kissed, sea salted and swept away by the waves of relaxation and rejuvenation. From beautiful bays and beaches to olive oil and wine-drenched dinners, there’s no bad choices when it comes to the Med!
